DRY NEEDLING IN ASHEVILLE, NC
We treat a range of orthopedic conditions, from sciatica to fibromyalgia; headaches to heel pain and more.

WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING?

No two pain conditions are alike, which is why we develop each treatment plan to match your individual needs.

Dry needling is a safe and effective therapy used to reduce muscle tension, promote blood flow, and decrease pain. It excels in the treatment of acute, chronic, and complex pain syndromes as well as many orthopedic conditions, such as sciatica, carpel tunnel, tennis below, and much more. Dry needling is also commonly referred to as acupuncture, trigger point acupuncture, trigger point needling, or functional dry needling

Dry needling therapy involves the use of thin, sterile needles inserted through the skin to target myofascial trigger points in muscles, tendons, and joints. Trigger points are knotted muscle fibers that are physically palpable and tender to the touch. Dry needling aims to unravel muscle knots and lengthen muscle fibers, ultimately reducing the tension applied to tendons and joints. Learn More.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM DRY NEEDLING?

Dry needling can benefit almost anyone who struggles with musculoskeletal injuries, both athletes and non-athletes.

Research shows that dry needling is an excellent therapy for treating pain and speeding recovery from physical injury. It excels in the treatment of tendinitis, arthritis, inflammation, muscle strains, neck and back pain, headaches, hip and knee pain, fibromyalgia, and other injuries and conditions. Dry needling can offer relief and resolution if you struggle with pain, muscle tightness, poor circulation, limited mobility, or range of motion. Whether you are experiencing acute or chronic pain or looking to enhance athletic performance or general wellness, dry needling offers a multitude of benefits.

FIRST VISIT

A treatment plan is tailored to your unique health goals

During your first visit, we gather information, establish a treatment plan, and perform dry needling and bodywork techniques such as cupping and Chinese sports massage (tuiyou). Clients often experience relief from a specific symptom or set of symptoms following their first dry needling treatment, though more visits may be needed to address the underlying root of the issue. It’s recommended to schedule three to four subsequent visits, especially with more chronic or complex orthopedic injuries, as it can take a handful of visits to understand the patterns of a long-term injury pattern. Ultimately, the number and frequency of treatments will depend on the condition and its severity. Hannah will discuss a treatment plan and guide you on the results you can expect.

RETURN VISIT

Our strategy adapts to meet your needs

It’s ideal to schedule a second visit about a week after your first session. This gives your body time and space to integrate the first treatment and experience symptom shifts. Our conversation during your return visit is key diagnostic information as we discuss the changes you have noticed. Your body’s response to treatment guides our plan forward. Chronic injury patterns that have been entrenched in the body for extended periods of time take longer to shift than acute injuries. The exact number and frequency of treatments will depend on your individual condition.

BENEFITS OF DRY NEEDLING
