Your First Visit
Holistic Medicine to address the symptoms & root causes of injury or illness
Welcome To Point Acupuncture
We look forward to supporting your health & healing. Whether you’re here for general health, fertility support, skin care, or pain relief, we’re committed to providing personalized care to help you feel your best. Chinese medicine takes a holistic approach to health that addresses symptoms by alleviating the root causes that create them. The body is seen as an interconnected system where dysfunction in one layer affects the whole. At Point Acupuncture, treatments focus on identifying imbalances to restore optimal health and harmony.
If you have questions about how acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine can help you, please don’t hesitate to reach out! We’re happy to discuss your concerns and guide you toward the best treatment options to support your resilient health and well-being.
What to Expect at Your First Session
Your first visit is the foundation of our journey together, however, we learn the most important diagnostic information during return visits, where we discuss the changes you have experienced from treatment. Understanding how your body responds to treatment is key information that guides our plan forward.
We Get To Know Your Treatment Goals
During your first session, we complete a thorough intake of your health history and treatment goals before delving into treatment. Tongue observation and pulse examination are also used as diagnostic tools to gain insight into your case. Depending on the complexity of your health concern(s), a large portion of your first visit may be dedicated to medical discussion. We take the time to listen carefully and ask thoughtful questions. Our goal is to provide clear guidance on how acupuncture and Chinese medicine can help, so you leave feeling informed and confident in your care.
We Personalize A Treatment Plan
After consultation, we transition into physical treatment using a variety of Chinese medicine therapies. In Chinese medicine treatments, acupuncture and herbal medicine may be combined or used exclusively on their own. Acupuncture is generally accompanied by other forms of bodywork, such as tui na medical massage, cupping, or moxibustion. Dry needling treatments may also include medical massage, cupping, and manual traction techniques.
A Clear Path Forward
You will leave your first appointment with a clear treatment plan and a realistic assessment of how we can help you. The plan includes the number of treatments you will need, a customized herbal formula (as necessary), and nutritional & lifestyle advice. We recommend scheduling three to four subsequent visits, especially with more chronic or complex health conditions, as it can take a handful of visits to understand an illness pattern. Clients will often notice relief from a specific symptom straight away, though more visits may be needed to work on the underlying root of the issue.

Acupuncture and Dry Needling Sessions begin with a comprehensive discussion to determine the best course of treatment based on your unique case. After discussion, we delve into treatment using a variety of therapies such as acupuncture, massage, and cupping.
Herbal Consultations begin with a comprehensive discussion of your medical history and health goals to determine the best treatment strategy. Based on the discussion, Hannah will write you a personalized herbal formula. The first consultation lasts 60 minutes, and follow-up consultations are 30 minutes.

The number and frequency of treatments will depend on the condition being treated and its severity. During our first consultation + treatment, we gather health information, establish a treatment plan, and prescribe an herbal formula (as necessary).
New clients should expect to follow up in a series of treatments until an obvious change is made. Booking three to four subsequent visits is recommended to gain momentum with treatment. With more chronic, complex cases, it can take a handful of treatments to begin to understand an illness pattern.

It depends on your interest in herbs and your condition. Herbs are a profound way to affect change in the body. Herbal formulas are mostly prescribed for internal medicine issues, such as digestion, painful menses, or the common cold. If you would like to take herbs without receiving acupuncture and bodywork, schedule an Herbal Consultation.
