What is Facial Acupuncture?
Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as an ‘Acupuncture Face Lift’ or ‘Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture’, is a holistic treatment rooted in traditional Chinese medicine principles. Fine needles are gently inserted into precise points on the face, neck, scalp, and body to stimulate circulation, nourish the skin, and tone underlying facial tissue.
The needling activates the body's natural healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production from within. Collagen is a protein that gives skin its structure, firmness, and resilience. As we age, collagen production gradually slows, leading to the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sagging, and a loss of elasticity. Cosmetic acupuncture works by supporting collagen synthesis naturally, softening wrinkles, lifting facial tissue, reducing puffiness, and improving overall skin tone, texture, and glow. A clinical pilot study published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine found significant improvements in facial elasticity after just five cosmetic acupuncture sessions.

What To Expect During Your Facial Acupuncture Treatment
Your first session includes a comprehensive intake outlining health history and skin goals and may include facial and body acupuncture points, jade stone facial gua sha, facial cupping, 30 minutes of Celluma LED light therapy, and a firming and lifting TCM botanical mask.
Each session is tailored to meet your specific needs and underlying health concerns are thoughtfully integrated into treatment strategy. In Chinese medicine, dermatology addresses skin health holistically through facial and body acupuncture, botanical serum masks, facial cupping & gua sha as well as implementing dietary therapy, and personalized herbal formulas to promote vibrant skin and treat stubborn skin issues. It's common to take a customized herbal formula alongside Facial Acupuncture and/or Microneedling treatments to further support treatment goals and enhance long-term results.
Planning & Scheduling
*If you've had recent botox or fillers, please wait at least 4 weeks to schedule Facial Acupuncture. See below for a full list of Facial Acupuncture contraindications.
Cosmetic acupuncture can be performed once or twice per week to stimulate skin regeneration and promote a youthful skin tone and texture. Results continue to build and improve over a series of weekly treatments, depending on the condition of your skin, your skin goals, and age.
We recommend scheduling 12 weekly sessions, with a reassessment after 6-8 sessions. After an initial 12 treatment series, regular maintenance sessions every few months are recommended.
Facial Acupuncture can also be a beautiful addition to your regular self-care routine. If you're looking for nervous system reset that also optimizes and enhances skin health, receiving Facial Acupuncture once every 3–4 weeks is a great way to stay refreshed, radiant, and glowing from within.
Many clients choose to combine weekly Facial Acupuncture treatments with monthly Microneedling treatments for enhanced results. Microneedling is highly effective at treating fine lines, wrinkles, and overall skin texture, while Facial Acupuncture excels at targeting facial muscles to help tone, lift, and tighten the skin. When combined, these treatments enhance one another by accelerating collagen remodeling, improving skin texture & tone, and gently lifting facial tissue.

Post-treatment Care
Following treatment, we recommend avoiding intense exercise, saunas, alcohol, and caffeine for the rest of the day to allow your body to fully integrate the session.
Visible results begin with the first treatment and continue to build with each session. Unlike Botox and fillers, the results of each cosmetic acupuncture treatment are cumulative. With regular treatments over time, facial tissues become more firm and toned, collagen production increases, and fine lines and wrinkles soften, contributing to a healthier, more radiant complexion. Most significant results typically appear after 8–12 weekly sessions, depending on your age and individual skin type.
